Mountain navigation tips
This is the Anoch Eagach ridge in winter

You can take mountain navigation courses, and you can hire mountain guides.
None of this is frightening for an experienced party. It is what gives mountaineering in Glencoe its thrill.
Telephone the Met Office for a forecast on 09068 500 441 Mountain Call West.
You may be the only ones climbing the mountain in Winter. The lower tracks are easy to spot but towards the tops they usually become shapeless, and in mist and a gale it can become frightening. Snow on the top and ice add to the problem.
Most mountain accidents happen on the way down because the pressure is off. Best to use GPS. Don’t rely on your mobile getting a signal.
You’ll get only 6 hours of daylight in Winter yet you need to allow up to 8 hours on the Munro in case something goes wrong. The absolute last thing you want is to be benighted on a Scottish Mountain in Winter. Start before dawn to be safe.
