CYCLING AND FISHING AROUND GLENCOE

CYCLING  For serious bikers Nevis Range gondola and its world class downhill tracks are the Mecca. They are building new cycle tracks along Loch Linnhe, by our cottage

Ballachulish 2 circular routes near us. Great views from the head of the Glen. Glen Dubh. 2 routes.  Easy cycling. Forest cycling to start then the views are to the South West. 20 minutes

Mill Farm.  For centuries this historic road it took all the traffic from the West Highlands to Inverary, via the ferry at Bonawe. See cairns and standing stones to the north of the route.

FISHING  200 yds from the cottage  The old pier at Kentallen.  Good sea loch fishing. You’ll find the old pier just off the road.  See the picture below.

800 yds. Fish in the river by the old bridge for mackerel, ling and trout. Or at 2 miles Use the old slipways by the Ballachulish Hotel. We can remember the ferry here.

15 minutes drive; the best in Argyll. The waters narrow at the Corran ferry. Best fishing is an hour after low water and an hour after high water. Cod, mackerel, ling. Seals lie in wait for the fish at a little rocky island, you can see them from a lay-by on the main road to Ft. William, two miles from the ferry. Fish are not happy bunnies here.

10 minutes drive, fresh water fishing at the delightful Glencoe Lochan. Spinning, fly and bait fishing.          Permit can be bought.
