IMPORTANT GLENCOE INFORMATION,  BOOK  THESE TRIPS BEFORE YOU LEAVE HOME
If YOU are visiting Fort William, Oban, Glencoe or Appin in the School Holidays, you must book before you leave home if  you want to go on the best trips involving a Land Rover. Glencoe safari trip via the Visitor Centre 01855 811307, or Mull via the Wild  Life tour 01680 300441, or the  trip on MacBraynes to Tiree 01631562244.  These trips are popular. Land Rovers are small.  You’ll need also to book in advance for the Mallaig Railway Trip in the school holidays. 01524 737751. They generally operate from Easter to the end of September.

Most popular trip in the Glencoe area.
Visitor Centre Glencoe. Every Thursday and Sunday.  1015, the three hour trip by Land Rover, including some off track. £15. In the Easter and Summer school holidays Book in advance. 01855 811307. History, wild life, everything with guide. Harry Potter area remember. Much of it was filmed here and the Visitors Centre does a tour

For Oban visitors, go to Mull for a day.
Oban ferry to Mull. Every 2 hours. From 1000 out and 1900 last one back. £36 one way.
Would be wise to book in advance for the 1000 from Oban ferry and the return at 1700. Cars must be there 45 mins before departure. Go via Lochaline instead- much cheaper and nicer. We never book this ourselves.

To Mull from Glencoe or Fort William via Lochaline to Fishnish. Just under every half hour, smaller boat, last one back at 1850. No booking in advance. Be wary of the queue for the last one back at 1850. Be safe, catch the 1700.
£11 one way for a small car plus the smaller fare for the Corran ferry. Take an early ferry out if you are taking a wild life trip on Mull- first one is at 0745, but check you will get back in time for the last one back at 1850. Mulle Wild life is excellent

For Glencoe, Lochaber and Fort William visitors try this. Drive to Kilchoan, beautiful route on Ardnamurchan, takes 2 hours. Then as foot passengers catch the ferry to Tobermory for lunch  say 1145 depart, and return on the 1430. Good eh? Long day, though, leave Kentallen at 0900 and get back about 1800. Ferry takes 35mins and departs every 1½ hours or so.

The Scottish National Trust Visitors Centre in Glencoe is truly good with its activities   01855 811307 office hours
