cottage by Glencoe between Fort William and Oban. We overlook the Bay of Kentallen,
Loch Linnhe by Ben Nevis.
WHY SELF CATERING IS SO SO MUCH BETTER THAN B&BCOME AND GO as you please. You can
eat in CHEAPLY. Peak time week, family of 4, only £23per person/per night.
The Gulf Stream started flowing 10,000 years ago and brought us out of our last Ice
Age. It starts off around Mexico as a narrow stream with a surface current flowing
at nearly 6 miles per hour, 300 times faster than the Amazon. Off Scotland it gets
broader and the the flow is down to 1 mile per hour. Then the water sinks as it gets
colder and saltier and reverses underneath to go back to Mexico.
This is what enables us all to live here. Simple as that. It is much warmer in the
West of the area than it is inland. It gets much wetter when the rain clouds hit
On the longest day of the year there is no complete darkness over the northern isles
We have nearly four hours more daylight than London at midsummer.
The curvature of the earth flattening out at the poles causes this effect.
Actually, it never gets truly dark with a clear sky at this time of year – we can
take photographs of Kentallen Bay at midnight. This photo was taken by our Guest
The West Coast of Scotland is a truly magical place
“Our 5th stay in Scotland and this was the best accommodation so far. Well equipped,
well organised. The weather was like it used to be,. If it rains then wait 15 minutes
and the sun comes out. Friendly people all over this land.” Monika and Klaus. August
“Oban is definitely worth a visit, and so is the live music in Fort William. The
Three Sisters is a walk we can recommend”
Ingrid and Paul August
