for Self catering Very few lochside
Cottages are near the most beautiful Glen in Scotland. This pretty lochside holiday
cottage by Glencoe between Fort William and Oban. We overlook the Bay of Kentallen,
Loch Linnhe by Ben Nevis.
WHY SELF CATERING IS SO SO MUCH BETTER THAN B&BCOME AND GO as you please. You can
eat in CHEAPLY. Peak time week, family of 4, only £23per person/per night.
The Gulf Stream started flowing 10,000 years ago and brought us out of our last Ice
Age. It starts off around Mexico as a narrow stream with a surface current flowing
at nearly 6 miles per hour, 300 times faster than the Amazon. Off Scotland it gets
broader and the the flow is down to 1 mile per hour. Then the water sinks as it gets
colder and saltier and reverses underneath to go back to Mexico.
This is what enables us all to live here. Simple as that. It is much warmer in the
West of the area than it is inland. It gets much wetter when the rain clouds hit
The Autumn is a stunning place on the West coast mainly for the colours. Everything
is red and brown. The most wonderful thing is the lack of traffic, and most places
are still open until Hogmanay at the Year End.
Hogmanay and Christmas get booked up for self catering long in advance.
This photo of our Kentallen Bay was taken by Jake Bench the 17 year old son of our
Christmas guests, the Bench family
“We had a lovely lovely stay at the cottage. This is our first time in this beautiful
part of Scotland and it will not be our last. We took lots of drives around Glencoe,
Fort William and Oban. Endless beautiful scenery.”
